Create A Pro Logo Out of Anything
Posted in Photo Manipulation on June 11th, 2009 with No responses.Step 1- To get stared on your professional gaming emblem, go ahead and open up an emblem from some professional sport. This will give you an idea of what it should look like, and what color it will be. Now, open your document and make it any size you want. I’m going to make it a bit landscape (400×200) so its size will mirror a pro looking logo. Fill the background with white.

Step 2 - Now, select the Rounded Rectangle Tool
and make a shape that spans the document. Take your eye dropper tool and grab the blue color form the professional sports logo. Then fill your rounded rectangle with it. You should have something that look like this…

Step 3 - Next, you need to find something significant from the activity that you’re making the logo for. Just for the sake of things, I’m going to make it for World of Warcraft. Something popular in the game is night elf females. So, I’m going to find me a good picture of a night elf female.

Step 4 - Now, trace around the night elft with your polygon lasso tool
. Once you have a selection around her, drag it over to your main document.

Step 5 - Ok, the next step is easy and just requires adding a couple of blending options. First, apply a color overlay of white to the night elf.

Step 6 - Now, take your rounded rectangle tool
again and make a rectangle the covers the entire right hand side of the blue rectangle. Use your night elf as a marker for where you want it to start. Now, fill it with the red from your pro sports emblem. Find a point on the night elf where the top of its head touches the top of the emblem, and a point where the bottom touches the bottom of the emblem. Then erase everything to the left of this point. You should have this…

From here it’s up to you to decide what to add. Here’s my final product.

Posted in Photo Effects on April 23rd, 2009 with No responses. If you keep up with comic book movie news, you’ll know that Green Lantern is speculated as the next big release from DC. He’s my personal favorite DC superhero. If it’s decided to have Hal Jordan as the main character of the movie (which it most likely be), then I see Jon Hamm being a great cast for the part.
So, today we’re going to turn Jon Hamm into a decent looking Green Lantern…have fun.

Create A Gaming Signature
Posted in Designing on November 21st, 2008 with No responses.Today, we’re going to create a cool looking custom signature for a video game website. I’m going to use the game, de Blob as an example. First, create a document 500×80, with the settings below. Take your marquee tool and grab the entire layer, right click and give it a stroke. Make it one pixel, and black. Your document should look like this.

The first step is the easiest of the tutorial. We’re going to create a custom brush so that when we add graffiti to the background, it looks right. Switch to your brush tool
, then click on the custom brushes button . Below is the settings for the custom brush.

2. First, take your Rounded Rectangle Tool

sides and bottom. You’ll want to leave a little more space on the top. Make it look like the screen below. Then you’ll want to add a gradient overlay with these numbers

Your document should look like this…

3. Next we’re going to add a header to the top of the page, which is why we left the space open. First
